The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reappointed star batter Babar Azam as the ODI and T20I captain, months after removing him from the role. Babar had stepped down after Pakistan’s worst campaign at the ODI World Cup 2023 last year. Shan Masood was appointed as the captain of the Test team of the Pakistan cricket team, while Shaheen Afridi became the new captain of the Pakistan T20 team. PCB didn't take any decisions on the ODI captain of the team.

Why was Shaheen Shah Afridi removed as captain of the Pakistan t20 team?
Shaheen Shah Afridi was removed as captain of the Pakistan t20 team because he lost the T20 series in New Zealand 1-4 and also couldn’t repeat his magic with Lahore Qalandars, as they finished at the bottom of the table in the recent PSL season.
Moreover, it has been reported that Shaheen Afridi wasn’t kept in the loop when PCB was discussing replacing him as the T20I captain.
