Thanks to a strong half-century from experienced Nizakat Khan (52 not out) and his sensible 61-run partnership with Anshuman Rath, Hong Kong scored a competitive score of 149 runs. Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga were the heroes of Sri Lanka's victory. Nissanka batted in excellent rhythm and played a brilliant innings of 68 runs in 44 balls. He showed a balance of patience and aggression during his innings and shared an important partnership of 57 runs with Kusal Perera (20) for the third wicket. Luck also favoured Nissanka in his innings as Hong Kong fielders gave him a reprieve on scores of 40 and 60. He hit most of the big shots in the square leg area. During this time, he hit a brilliant sweep six off Ejaz Khan's ball. Sri Lanka, who had scored 65 runs in 10 overs, strengthened their hold on the match by adding 42 runs in the next three overs.

But Hong Kong made a comeback at one point and dismissed Nissanka, Perera, Kamindu Mendis and captain Charit Aslanka in quick succession, reducing Sri Lanka from 119/2 to 127/6. Even after this, Sri Lanka maintained its composure and in the end, Wanindu Hasaranga ensured the team's victory by playing an unbeaten innings of 20 runs in just nine balls.
