India secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21. After restricting Pakistan to a challenging total, Indian batters powered through the chase with a spectacular innings from Abhishek Sharma.
Pakistan Batting Performance
Pakistan started well with openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman providing quick runs. Farhan took advantage of three chances and reached a well-paced 58 off 45 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Fakhar Zaman made an aggressive start but was caught off Hardik Pandya’s bowling in a close call involving Sanju Samson’s catch.
The key partnership of 72 runs between Farhan and Saim Ayub (21 off 17) set Pakistan on a competitive path. However, after Farhan’s dismissal, Pakistan’s middle order struggled against disciplined bowling. Shivam Dube was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 33 runs. Faheem Ashraf’s late cameo of 20 off 8 balls helped Pakistan reach 171/5 in their 20 overs.
India’s Powerful Chase
Chasing 172, India openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill provided an explosive start, scoring 69 runs in the powerplay. Sharma reached his fifty in just 24 balls, continuing his fast-paced form. Gill scored 47 off 28 balls before falling to Faheem Ashraf.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a duck by Haris Rauf, but Sharma kept the momentum going with a stunning 74 off 39 balls, including six fours and five sixes. After Sharma’s dismissal, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson struggled to score quickly, adding just 25 runs in 26 balls.
With India needing 24 runs from 20 balls, Hardik Pandya joined Varma and played a key role with two sixes. Varma remained unbeaten on 30 off 19 to guide India over the line comfortably with six wickets to spare.
