In their final Group A match of the Asia Cup 2025 held in Abu Dhabi, India secured a 21-run win over Oman, finishing the group stage unbeaten with three wins from as many matches.

India’s Strong Batting Display

Batting first after winning the toss, India posted a challenging total of 188/8 in 20 overs. Despite losing Shubman Gill early for 5 runs, Abhishek Sharma lit up the innings with a fiery 38 off just 15 balls, helping India reach 72 runs in seven overs. Sharma was dismissed by Oman’s left-arm pacer Jitnekumar Ramanandi.

Sanju Samson, promoted to number three, played a vital innings of 56 off 45 balls. His steady knock earned him the Player of the Match award. Other contributors included Axar Patel with a quick 26 off 13, Tilak Varma’s 29 off 18, and Harshit Rana’s unbeaten 13 runs towards the end. Hardik Pandya also had an unlucky run-out shortly after Sharma's dismissal.

Oman’s Fighting Chase

Oman fought hard in their chase of 189 runs. Openers Aamir Kaleem and Hammad Mirza provided excellent starts, scoring aggressive half-centuries. Kaleem made 64 off 46 balls, while Mirza scored 51 from 33 deliveries.

Their partnership kept Oman in the game, accumulating 93 runs together. However, India’s bowling attack eventually stalled the chase, and Oman finished 167/4 in their 20 overs. Despite their valiant efforts, Oman fell short by 21 runs against the defending champions.
