In the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s fixture held in Dubai, defending champions India secured a dominant 41-run win over Bangladesh to qualify for the final on September 28. With one game still left in the Super 4s, India’s commanding performance ensured they remain unbeaten and firmly in control of their title defense.
Batting first, India posted a competitive total of 168/6 in their 20 overs. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a flying start, sharing a 77-run partnership in just 6.2 overs. Gill scored 29 off 19 balls, while Sharma smashed a brilliant 75 off just 37 balls, striking six fours and five sixes.
Although India faced a mini collapse in the middle overs, Hardik Pandya’s solid 38 off 29 kept the scoreboard ticking. For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain took two wickets, while Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib claimed a wicket each.
Bangladesh started their chase poorly, losing their first wicket at just 4 runs. Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon added 42 runs for the second wicket, with Saif Hassan scoring a half-century (69 off 51 balls) before getting out. Parvez contributed 21 runs.
Despite Saif’s efforts, the rest of the Bangladeshi batsmen struggled to make an impact. Bangladesh were bowled out for 127 in 19.3 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the star with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 18 runs while Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets each. Axar Patel and Tilak Varma chipped in with a wicket each.
