Top batsmen in the Indian Premier League (IPL) are scoring runs at a rapid pace. While many players score runs over time, there are very few who perform well under pressure on the biggest T20 stage. Celebrating some of the league's finest batsmen, here are five batsmen who have scored the fastest 1,000 runs in the tournament's history

1. Shaun Marsh (21 innings)

Shaun Marsh holds the record for scoring 1000 runs in innings in IPL 21. The stylish left-handed batsman scored 616 runs at an average of 68.44 in the first season of IPL in 2008 and won the Orange Cap as the highest run-scorer in the tournament. Marsh achieved this feat during his stint with Kings XI Punjab.

2. Lendl Simmons (23 innings)

West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Lendl Simmons scored 1,079 runs in 29 innings at an average of 39.96 in the IPL. He took just 23 innings to complete 1,000 runs, doing so during the 2017 edition of the tournament. Simmons played all his IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians franchise between 2014 and 2017 and won the title on two separate occasions under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. During Mumbai Indians' spectacular 2015 title win, Simmons scored 540 runs in 13 innings at an average of 45.

3. Devon Conway (24 innings)

New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Conway took just 24 innings to complete 1,000 IPL runs. He made his tournament debut for the CSK franchise in 2022 and has played 25 matches so far, registering 1,000 runs for the franchise, Conway averages 47.90 while his strike rate is 140.30. Conway, who has scored 1,006 runs in 24 innings, has also scored ten brilliant half-centuries in his IPL career.

4. Matthew Hayden (25 innings)

Australia's Matthew Hayden played just 32 IPL matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first three seasons of the tournament. He scored 1,000 runs in his IPL career in his final season, which was his 25th match for the team. While Hayden scored just 189 runs in the four innings he played in the inaugural edition, the veteran opener put up an 'Orange Cap' winning performance by scoring 572 runs in 12 innings. Matthew Hayden played a key role in CSK's title win in IPL 2010 by scoring 346 runs in 16 innings.

5. Sai Sudarshan (25 innings)

Gujarat Titans Sai Sudarshan completed 1,000 runs in just 25 innings in his IPL career. The left-handed batsman, who made his IPL debut for the franchise in 2022, has so far scored 1,225 runs in 29 innings at an impressive batting average of 47.11. Apart from this, Sudarshan has maintained a brilliant strike rate of 140.80 and has registered eight half-centuries and a century during this period.
