Zimbabwe eventually fell 72 runs short of India's mammoth target of 256/4.

The Proteas avenged their defeat in a rematch of the 2024 final. At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, South Africa bounced back from an early defeat thanks to a brilliant innings from David Miller and excellent support from Dewald Brevis. Chasing a target of 188, the Indian batsmen once again found it difficult as Marco Jansen bowled brilliantly, taking four wickets. Keshav Maharaj also took three wickets to hand India their first defeat in an ICC tournament after 18 matches.
