The 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to witness a high-octane battle as Gujarat Titans (GT) lock horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 8th April at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With both teams aiming to maintain their winning momentum, this encounter promises to be a thrilling affair.
Rajasthan Royals head into this match after a dominating 50-run victory over Punjab Kings, while Gujarat Titans chased down a tricky target against Sunrisers Hyderabad with ease, winning by 7 wickets. With in-form players on both sides, several individual battles could prove decisive in determining the outcome of the game.
RR skipper Sanju Samson has been in fine form in IPL 2025, consistently giving his team solid starts and batting with authority. His aggressive approach in the middle order will be key to Rajasthan’s success against Gujarat.
However, standing in his way will be Mohammed Siraj, the fiery pacer from GT who has shown excellent control and wicket-taking ability so far this season. The head-to-head record between the two is quite intriguing. In T20s, Samson has faced Siraj for 31 balls, scoring 36 runs at a strike rate of 116, but what stands out is that Siraj has dismissed Samson three times, maintaining an average of 12 against him.
This clash will be a key moment, especially in the powerplay overs.
Explosive English opener Jos Buttler has shown glimpses of his destructive best in IPL 2025 and will be a vital cog in the RR batting lineup. His potential duel with GT pacer Sandeep Sharma could light up the evening.
Interestingly, Buttler has enjoyed a strong record against Sandeep Sharma in the IPL. In 40 balls faced, Buttler has smashed 87 runs at a staggering strike rate of 217.5, with an incredible average of 87. Sandeep has managed to get Buttler out just once in their IPL face-offs.
If Buttler gets going, Gujarat's bowlers will have a tough time controlling the run flow.
GT skipper Shubman Gill played a captain’s knock in the previous match, anchoring the chase with a fluent half-century. As he looks to continue his form, one of the key match-ups will be against the express pace of Jofra Archer.
In T20s, Archer has had the upper hand over Gill. In 13 balls faced, Gill has scored just 9 runs at a strike rate of 69, and Archer has dismissed him twice. Archer’s pace and bounce could once again trouble the GT opener, especially early in the innings.
This contest could play a decisive role in setting the tone of Gujarat’s innings.
