The player auction for the 2026 season of The Hundred marked a historic moment for the tournament as it introduced its first-ever auction system for the men’s competition. Held on March 12, franchises entered the auction with a significantly increased budget, allowing teams more flexibility while building their squads.
With a 45% increase in team funding, each franchise received a purse of £2.05 million to assemble squads of 14 to 16 players. A total of 247 cricketers from around the world were part of the auction pool, including international stars and domestic talents.
However, despite the strong lineup of players available, several big names surprisingly went unsold during the auction.
