T20 World Cup 2024 will change: New format, new location

T20 World Cup 2024 will be very different from this time. In this, instead of 16, 20 teams will be divided into four groups of five teams each, while after the first round there will be a Super-8 stage. In the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cups, the Super 12 stage was held after the first round, but in the next tournament the top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the Super Eight stage, which will again be divided into two groups of four.

The top two teams from each of the two Super Eight groups will then advance to the semi-finals, followed by the final. Twelve teams have already booked their places for the next phase of the tournament to be played in West Indies and America. The hosts West Indies and the United States took the first two spots.

The top eight teams (top four teams from each Super 12 group) from the T20 World Cup that concluded in Australia have qualified for the 2024 tournament, which includes defending champions and runners-up Pakistan. Afghanistan and Bangladesh have also confirmed their place. According to the press release of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the last eight places of the year 2024 tournament will be decided by the regional qualification tournament.

The ICC said, 'South Africa secured the 2024 qualification position by finishing in the top eight. Zimbabwe could not capitalize on their strong start to the campaign and finished last in their Super 12 group, forcing them to play in a regional qualification tournament. Africa, Asia and Europe will each have two qualification spots each, while the Americas and the East Asia Pacific region will each have one.

England the current Champions

At present, the England team is the T20 World Cup champion backing a lot of cricket betting tips. In the final of the T20 World Cup 2023 was played in Australia last year, the English team won the title by defeating Pakistan. The England team won the T20 World Cup for the second time. Earlier in the year 2010, the England team was successful in winning the T20 World Cup title played in the West Indies. 

Teams that have qualified

Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka have qualified for the 2024 tournament on the basis of top-eight finishes in the 2022 T20 World Cup. They are joined by Afghanistan and Bangladesh, who will qualify based on being the next best team in the T20 team rankings. The remaining eight spots for the 2024 T20 World Cup will be decided through regional qualifiers. Rounding out the tournament line-up will be two qualifying places each in Africa, Asia and Europe, with one place each for the Americas and the East-Asia Pacific region.
