Oman Cricket has unveiled its 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, marking a historic first as the team gears up for its maiden appearance in the prestigious tournament. The achievement comes after Oman finished as runners-up in the ACC Premier Cup 2024, held on home soil.
The Asia Cup remains one of the most celebrated cricket tournaments in the region, featuring elite teams from across Asia. For Associate nations like Oman, this event provides a golden chance to compete against cricketing powerhouses such as India and Pakistan on a global stage.
Jatinder Singh to Lead Oman in Asia Cup 2025
Experienced opener Jatinder Singh will captain the side in this historic campaign. Singh has been in excellent form over the past year and is expected to play a key role at the top of the order. The batting unit also includes promising youngster Hammad Mirza, who gained attention with a match-defining innings against India during the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.
The middle order features seasoned players like Mohammad Nadeem and Vinayak Shukla, adding stability and depth to the lineup.
Bowling Options for Every Scenario
Oman’s bowling group has been carefully balanced for the demands of T20 cricket. The pace attack comprises right-arm quicks Hassnain Ali Shah and Mohammad Imran, bolstered by tall left-arm seamer Faisal Shah, who brings an extra edge with his ability to extract bounce. Veteran Sufyan Mehmood adds further versatility, renowned for mixing up his pace and restricting scoring in crucial overs.
The spin resources are equally strong, with Shakeel Ahmed spearheading the slow bowling department. Young left-arm spinner Nadeem Khan, making his debut, adds a fresh dimension to Oman’s attack while also contributing handy runs down the order.

Exciting Debutants in the Mix
Four uncapped players have been given an opportunity to shine on the big stage. Alongside Faisal Shah and Nadeem Khan, wicketkeeper-batter Sufyan Yousuf, admired for his calm temperament, and attacking batter Zikriya Islam, labeled the “X-factor” of the squad, complete the new-look group. Their inclusion indicates the management’s forward-thinking approach of blending promise with experience.
Coach’s Perspective
