Team India had an almost perfect start to their campaign at the 2025 Men's T20 Asia Cup, defeating the UAE with 93 balls to spare. Team India got some relief with a stunning win over Scotland in the 37th match of the 2021 Men's T20 World Cup. Mohammed Shami (3/15) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/15) bowled impressively, while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets to bundle out Scotland for just 85 runs in 17.4 overs.
In reply, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma had a blistering opening partnership of 70 runs in less than five overs for Team India, but Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Brad Wheel after scoring 30 runs off 16 balls. Rahul scored 50 runs off just 19 balls with the help of six fours and three skyscraper sixes and scored the highest score of the innings. After this, captain Virat Kohli (2 *) and Suryakumar Yadav (6 *), who came to bat at number four, together gave India the winning runs by taking eight wickets with 81 balls remaining.
The Indian team defeated Bangladesh by nine wickets with 64 balls to spare in the first semi-final of the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou. Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore stole the show with figures of 3 for 12 in his four overs. Fellow spinner Washington Sundar also picked up 2 for 15 while top pacer Arshdeep Singh, part-timer Tilak Verma, and spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Shahbaz Ahmed picked up a wicket each to restrict Bangladesh to 96/9 in 20 overs.
In reply, India chased down the target, losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for a four-ball duck off Ripan Mondol in the very first over. However, their captain and opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed 40* off just 26 balls with four fours and three towering sixes. Tilak Varma at number three also played an unbeaten knock of 55* runs in 26 balls with the help of two fours and six sixes and both of them made an unbeaten partnership of 97 runs to take India to the finals in just 9.2 overs.
