Former cricketer Mohammad Kaif has expressed his views on who will lead Team India. He stated on his YouTube channel that KL Rahul could be a potential choice for captaincy in this situation.
Kaif clarified that Team India will not return to former captain Rohit Sharma. He said,
“They won't go back to Rohit Sharma. It's already happened. He'll deny it himself. I think KL Rahul is an option. He's captained before and has experience. I think he'll lead the team in the ODI series.”

Shubman Gill was appointed India's ODI captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma, in early 2025. This change marks the beginning of a new era for India, as the team now focuses on preparing for the ICC ODI World Cup 2027.
Despite stepping down as captain, Rohit Sharma remains a key player in the team, alongside seasoned veterans like Virat Kohli, thanks to his impressive batting.
