1. India vs England, The Oval (14 to 19 August, 1952)

1952

After getting independence, India had a fight with England. The Indian team was on a tour of England and a five-match Test series took place. The fourth Test match was played in the year 1952 from August 14 to August 19 at the Oval in England. Batting first, leading 3-0 in the series, England declared the innings by scoring 326 runs for 6 wickets. In response to which the Indian team got all out after scoring just 98 runs in the first innings. After the Indian innings, the match rained and play could not go ahead. In this way this test match ended in a draw.

2. India vs Sri Lanka, Galle (14 to 18 August 2001)

2001

After the Test match held on August 15 in the year 1952, the Indian team did not play any match on August 15 for the next 49 years. After a long wait, the opportunity came in the year 2001 when India played a cricket match on 15th August. This match was played against Sri Lanka. In the first innings, Team India was reduced to just 187 runs. Sri Lanka scored 362 runs in the first innings thanks to the century of opener Sanath Jayasuriya. India's poor performance continued in the second innings as well and the team was bundled out for just 180 runs. Sri Lanka achieved a modest target of 6 runs to win the match by 10 wickets.

3. India vs England, The Oval (15 to 17 August 2014)

In the year 2014, there was a Test match between India and England from 15 to 17 August. This match was also played at The Oval. India had to face defeat in this match as well. England had licked the dust of Dhoni's fans by an innings and 244 runs. In the first innings, India was reduced to just 148 runs. In response, England scored 486 runs in the first innings thanks to Joe Root's brilliant 149 runs. Team India's second innings ended even worse and the entire team was bundled out for 94 runs.

4. India vs Sri Lanka, Galle (12 to 15 August 2015)

In the year 2015, a Test match was played between Sri Lanka and India from 12 to 15 August in Galle. In the first innings of the match, in front of Ravichandran Ashwin's sharp bowling, Sri Lanka was reduced to just 183 runs. In response, India scored 375 runs in the first innings thanks to centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and captain Virat Kohli. In the second innings, Sri Lanka scored 367 runs thanks to Dinesh Chandimal's 162 runs and India got an easy target of 176 runs, but in front of the Sri Lankan bowling attack, the Indian team collapsed for just 112 runs. Once again we missed out on winning the match on the occasion of independence. India lost this match by 63 runs.

5. India vs West Indies, Port of Spain (14-15 August 2019)

After facing defeat four times, that auspicious time has come when India got victory on this special day. In the year 2019, ODI match was played between India and West Indies on 14-15 August in Port of Spain. This match started at 7 pm according to Indian time. Its result came on 15 August. In this rain-affected match, India won by 6 wickets. Batting first, West Indies scored 240 runs in 35 overs. India got a target of 255 runs according to the Duckworth-Lewis method. Captain Virat Kohli played a brilliant century innings of 114 runs in the match.

6. India vs England, Lord's (12-16 August 2021)

Who would be able to forget that historic day of the year 2021 On the occasion of August 15, Team India, which could not beat England, created history at Lord's ground. Batting first, India scored 364 runs in the first innings. KL Rahul scored 129 and Rohit Sharma scored 83 runs. England scored 391 runs in the first innings thanks to Root's unbeaten 180 runs. In the second innings, India scored 298 runs losing 8 wickets.

England got a target of 272 runs to win. The bowlers, led by Bumrah, got off to a great start and showed the way to send both the openers to the pavilion on the score of one run. After these initial setbacks, the British could not recover and the entire team was all out after scoring just 120 runs. Though the match ended on August 16, the country started celebrating from August 15 itself. Siraj took 4 wickets in the second innings while Bumrah took 3 wickets.
