
In the Duleep Trophy, the Central Zone team will play under the captaincy of Dhruv Jurel. Rajat Patidar will be the vice-captain of the team. BCCI's centrally contracted player Rinku Singh, captain Akshay Wadkar who made Vidarbha the Ranji champion, Karun Nair who batted strongly in the last season and aggressive batsman Venkatesh Iyer have not got a chance in the team.
This will be Jurel's third Duleep Trophy season. He previously won the trophy with India A in 2024-25 and made his debut with Central Zone in 2023.
The selection committee met at Holkar Stadium in Indore on Thursday to select the Central Zone team. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, the Central Zone includes state teams from Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Rajasthan, Railways, Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh. Wicketkeeper batsman Dhruv Jurel was part of the Indian team on the recent England tour and played in the last Test played at the Oval.
