Australia's premier cricket tournament, the Big Bash League (BBL) is all set to return for its 14th edition on December 15 as the Parth Scorchers take on the Melbourne Stars in the premier match at the UPS Stadium. A new format has been devised for the upcoming tournament as the event committee has decided to limit the tournament to just 44 matches, including four knockout matches.

Only the top four teams will qualify for the next round under the new Superstars; the top five rankings from the BBL Points Table used to be eligible for the knockout stage. The first and second-placed teams will play each other in the Qualifier on January 21 to qualify directly for the final. However, the third and fourth-placed teams will qualify for the knockout stage. The winner of the knockout match on January 24 will play the loser of the Challenger Qualifier. The winners of the Challenger and Qualifier will play the final on January 27, 2025.
