Hosts Bangladesh have announced their squad for the two-match Test series, starting November 11. The Test squad consists of 14 players.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 14-member squad for the home Test series against Ireland. Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy has returned to the squad. This will be Bangladesh's first Test series after the recent captaincy controversy, with Nazmul Hasan Shanto once again retained as Test captain. The Irish team will tour Bangladesh this month, where they will play a two-match Test series and a three-match T20 series.
24-year-old Mahmudul Hasan was dropped from the last Test series against Sri Lanka due to his Test average of just 22.79. However, he recently performed brilliantly in the National Cricket League (NCL), scoring a century, which has led to his re-inclusion in the squad.
Nayeem Hasan, Mahidul Islam, and Anamul Haque have been omitted from the Sri Lanka series squad this time. Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad, who has yet to make his Test debut, has been retained. The selection committee has expressed confidence in him, giving him a chance. This series is considered crucial for Bangladesh as the team will not play another Test series this year. Therefore, the team will look to improve its performance in home conditions.
The first match of the two-match Test series will be played in Sylhet on November 11th, while the second and final Test will begin in Dhaka on November 19th. After the Test series, both the teams will also play a series of three T20 International matches.
Nazmul Hasan Shanto (captain), Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, Zaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, Ebadot Hasan Chowdhury, Hasan Murad.
