Indian fast bowler Avesh Khan became the most expensive uncapped player in 2022 after being bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a surprise fee of Rs 10 crore. Avesh started his IPL journey with RCB in 2017 before signing for Delhi Capitals, where the player spent four seasons. Recently he was traded to Rajasthan Royals for his current fee of Rs 10 crore.
K Gautam, contracted by Chennai Super Kings in 2021 for a fee of Rs 9.25 crore, is ranked second in this list. Despite the lump sum payment, the Karnataka-born player failed to impress his captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni that year. He did not play any games in CSK's title-winning campaign and was eventually released by the organization ahead of the 2022 auction. He was then sold in the auction to the newly formed Lucknow Supergiants for a mere fee of Rs 90 lakh.
Indian all-rounder Shahrukh Khan was signed by Punjab Kings in the 2022 auction for a mega fee of Rs 9 crore. The extremely high fee for the player was the result of a bidding war between teams like KKR, CSK and Punjab Kings. In 2023, Shahrukh played a total of 14 matches and scored 156 runs. He achieved this position while playing at an average of 22.29 and strike rate of 165.96.
Rahul Tewatia joined the list of most expensive uncapped players of IPL after being contracted for Rs 9 crore in 2022. It was Gujarat Titans who spent money on the all-rounder based on his impressive season with Rajasthan Royals in 2021. Tewatia had created a stir on the internet that year by playing a memorable inning against Punjab Kings. During that match, he thrashed West Indies fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell for five sixes in an over.
A major attraction in the IPL 2018 auction, Krunal Pandya made headlines after he was signed by Mumbai Indians for a staggering fee of Rs 8.80 crore. The player had already shown bright promise in 2016, showcasing his wide-ranging batting strokes. In 2017, Krunal impressed with both bat and ball and won the Player of the Match award in the final of the tournament. Krunal has played a total of 113 IPL matches in his career and scored 1514 runs. He has also taken a total of 70 wickets in those games.
