India's star boxer Meenakshi Hooda made her name in the pages of history by winning the gold medal at the World Boxing Championship on Sunday, September 14. Meenakshi won the gold medal by defeating multiple world gold medalist and Paris Olympics bronze medalist Nazim Kaizebe in the final. Meenakshi defeated Nazim Kaizebe 4-1 in this match.
Meenakshi's performance was also excellent in the semi-finals-
Meenakshi won the gold medal match by a split decision of 4-1 after facing a tough fight from the Kazakh boxer. Meenakshi made it to the finals by defeating Mongolian boxer Altantsetseg Lutsekhan 5-0 in the semi-finals of the 48 kg weight category. Earlier, Meenakshi defeated England's player Pumphrey Ellis in the quarter-finals. In the pre-quarter-finals, she defeated China's player Wang Kaping.
On this special occasion, coach Vijay Hooda congratulated Meenakshi and told that Meenakshi is a resident of Roorkee village of the district. There is an atmosphere of happiness in her family due to Meenakshi's victory. Meenakshi will enter the ring for the Golden Punch on Sunday.

Earlier, Indian women's boxer Jasmine Lamboria (women's 57kg) defeated Poland's Szermata Julia 4-1 on Saturday to win the gold medal in her category. Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist Szermata started the match at a fast pace and counter-attacked amid chants of 'Julia' by many Polish fans in the stands. This inspired Jasmine and she took control of the match from the second round itself. She took control of the match by taking advantage of her height and won 4-1.
