Women make for 2.8 crore job applications out of seven crore in 2024
A total of 7 crore applications were received for jobs in the year 2024, out of which 2.8 crore applications were from women. According to a report, this number is 20 percent more than the year 2023. India's employment scenario is changing rapidly and the participation of women in the workforce is increasing.
A total of 7 crore applications have been received this year which is 25% more than last year. According to the report, the increase in the number of applications is a result of the increasing participation of women and youth in the workforce. It said that the number of applications for senior and managerial positions increased by 32%, reflecting the growing influence of women in shaping the country's workforce.
Tier-1 cities have the highest number of applications:
Tier-1 cities like Delhi-NCR, Bangalore and Mumbai have the highest number of applications (1.52 crore) from women. While tier-2 and tier-3 cities like Jaipur, Lucknow and Bhopal have recorded 1.28 crore applications from women. This shows that employment opportunities are growing rapidly even outside metro cities.
Average salary of women professionals increased by 28%:
The average salary of women professionals has increased by 28% in 2024 compared to 2023. Women are not only excelling in sectors like healthcare, hospitality, retail and e-commerce but also in unconventional roles like field sales, supply chain and security service.
Number of new applicants increased by 27%:
The number of new applicants applying for employment in 2024 was more than two crore, which is 27% more than in 2023. Cities like Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad received 60 lakh applications, while areas like Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar received 82 lakh applications.
