After winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, now the Indian team will get a chance to play the next ICC trophy in early 2025 when the Champions Trophy will be played. Regarding this, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that both Rohit and Kohli will be a part of Team India.
While the players of the Indian team and all the fans were very happy after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title, during this time two legendary players of Team India, captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, said goodbye to this format. In the year 2007, when the Indian team won the T20 World Cup trophy for the first time, Rohit Sharma was also a part of the Indian team at that time, while this was the first T20 World Cup trophy of Virat Kohli's career. Now everyone's eyes are on the ICC Champions Trophy to be held next year, in which BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has made the whole picture clear with his statement regarding whether Rohit and Virat will play or not.
BCCI Secretary Jai Shah made it clear in his statement to PTI that all the senior players will be part of the team in the Champions Trophy to be held next year. With his statement, it is now certain that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be seen playing in this mega event and the responsibility of winning this ICC trophy will be on their shoulders. Jai Shah said in his statement that after the kind of form the team is looking in at the moment, our next goal is to win the Test World Championship and the Champions Trophy and senior players will also be a part of the team in that.
The ICC Champions Trophy, played in the 50-over format, is being organized again after the year 2017, in which 8 teams of world cricket will participate. Team India will get a chance to play a total of 9 ODI matches from July 2023 till the start of the Champions Trophy next year, in which it will get a chance to play 3-3 match series against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and England.
