An ICC spokesperson has said that since there is only one day's difference between the second semi-final and the final. The spokesperson said that the team winning the second semi-final match should get enough time to rest before the final, so a reserve day has not been kept for the second semi-final match.
The website ESPNcricinfo quoted an ICC spokesperson as saying in its report, Looking at the performance, our effort was to avoid a situation where teams play, then travel and then play again, so we have kept extra time for the second semi-final match as the match will start at 10:30 am. The first semi-final was in the evening so a reserve day was kept for that match, so extra time could not be given in this match on that day.
What will happen if the semi-final match doesn't take place?
There are rain clouds hovering over the match between India and England. It is raining intermittently in Guyana and hence there is doubt over the match. If the match does not take place due to rain, then the Indian team will directly reach the final. The reason for this is that Team India had finished the Super-8 stage at number one.
