BlueSky's users are constantly growing. However, its founder Jack Dorsey said goodbye to the company earlier this year. Jack Dorsey started BlueSky while he was the CEO of Twitter. When Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, BlueSky was established as a separate company.
After Donald Trump won the US presidential election, many users of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) have started distancing themselves from it. During the US election, X's owner Elon Musk openly supported Trump and now he is also joining the government. Users believe that the social media platform X will no longer be as unbiased as before and there will be direct government interference in it. This is the reason why they are leaving this platform. Meanwhile, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey's social media platform BlueSky is seeing a significant increase in the number of new users.
The roots of Twitter and BlueSky are interconnected. Actually, Jack got the idea of BlueSky while working on Twitter. He started it to decentralize social media. For this, he funded a small team of developers. This team has developed BlueSky, which is ready to compete with X today.
When Jack Dorsey left Twitter in 2019, BlueSky's management started working independently. After this, by 2021, BlueSky completely separated itself from Twitter and formed a company. After this, when Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, it became completely separate from Twitter.
BlueSky was established as an independent organization. Twitter's management appointed Jay Graber as its CEO. In an interview last year, Jack Dorsey said that they are doing a good job and we decided to give them financial help. Along with this, during that time we were also planning to separate BlueSky from Twitter. When Elon Musk made us an offer, we gave BlueSky a fund of $14 million so that they could continue their work.
According to BlueSky's website, this social media platform is managed by Jay Graber and the BlueSky team. Apart from Graber, Jeremy Miller, Mike Masnick and Kinjal Shah are also included in the company's board. Dorsey was initially a part of its board. Later, unhappy with the direction of the company, he distanced himself from it.
Jay Graber wants to establish BlueSky as a completely transparent and publicly accountable company. She wants to get it listed on the stock market. She wants to develop it as an open source platform like Twitter and Facebook. Dorsey, on the other hand, was against it.
He believed that BlueSky was established as a competitive social platform, the main purpose of which was to decentralize social media users. Initially, only select users were invited to create accounts on BlueSky. Due to such differences, Dorsey separated himself from its board.
