Types of Ceasefires

Permanent ceasefire: This aims to end hostilities forever, although this often requires a comprehensive peace agreement.

Bilateral or multilateral ceasefire: This is an agreement between two or more parties in which they agree to stop hostile actions against each other.
Ceasefire Process
Ceasefires can be declared in several ways
Mutual agreement: Parties to a conflict may agree to a ceasefire by direct negotiation or through mediation by a third party.
International pressure: The United Nations Security Council or other international organizations may pass resolutions to end hostilities, putting pressure on the warring parties to ceasefire.
Unilateral declaration: One party may declare a ceasefire on its part for political or humanitarian reasons.
Importance of Ceasefire
Ceasefire is important for several reasons
Saving lives: It stops immediate violence and saves the lives of both soldiers and civilians involved in the war.
Humanitarian aid: It allows humanitarian organizations to deliver food, water, medical aid and other essential items to conflict zones.

Violation of Ceasefire
A violation of a ceasefire occurs when one party takes hostile action despite the agreed terms. This can be in the form of firing, bombing or other military action. Violation of a ceasefire often escalates tensions and undermines peace efforts.
