Sri Lanka has announced its squad for the Asia Cup 2025 starting on September 9, in which Charith Asalanka will take over the captaincy while injured player Wanindu Hasaranga has also got a place.

Sri Lanka Cricket has announced its team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 starting on 9 September, which includes a total of 16 players. Charith Aslanka will captain the Sri Lankan team in the Asia Cup. The last time the Asia Cup was played in T20 format was in the year 2022, when the Sri Lankan team won the title by defeating Pakistan by 23 runs in the final match.
Hasranga included in the team despite injury
In the team announced by Sri Lanka for Asia Cup 2025, they have also included experienced spin bowler Wanindu Hasaranga, who has not yet recovered from his hamstring injury. In such a situation, even after getting a place in the Asia Cup team, Hasaranga will get a chance to play the match only when he is fully fit.
Hasaranga was injured during the T20 series against Bangladesh in July this year. Talking about other players included in the team, Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka will be responsible for the top order. Apart from this, all-rounder players include former captain Dasun Shanaka, Kamendu Mendis, Dunith Velage and captain Charith Aslanka.
In the upcoming Asia Cup, Sri Lanka has been placed in Group B, which also includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong. Sri Lanka will play their first match of the tournament against Bangladesh on September 13, while on September 15 they will face Hong Kong, while on September 18 Sri Lanka will play their last match in Group B against Afghanistan.
