Diwali festival is celebrated with great pomp and show all over the country. On this occasion, there are holidays in schools and government offices. But there are some states where there is only a nominal holiday on this occasion.
Diwali festival is celebrated with great pomp in India. However, in some states there is no provision of holidays for this or there are fewer holidays. The reason behind this is that due to cultural diversity, other festivals along with Diwali are also important, but Diwali holiday has no importance.
Holidays are announced in various states of India on Diwali festival. However, in some states there is no holiday on Diwali. This year also Diwali holiday has not been given in many states. These mainly include Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam etc.
In Kerala, the effect of Diwali is less and only one day holiday is given on November 1. At the same time, there is no special holiday on Diwali in Himachal Pradesh.
Uttarakhand has holidays from November 1 to November 3, but no special holiday has been given for Diwali. In the schools here, only November 1 holiday has been declared for Diwali.
There is no Diwali holiday even in hilly areas like Jammu and Kashmir. Here people give priority to their local traditions and festivals. Although, many times people here celebrate the festival of Diwali, but it is not generally recognized as a government holiday.
Other festivals have more importance in Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. In the high hill areas of Meghalaya, local tribal cultures have their own characteristics, where other festivals are given priority over Diwali. In such states, it is often seen that despite there being no important holiday like Diwali for working people, they try to balance their work and family responsibilities. In such a situation, people appeal to the authorities for leave, so that they can celebrate this special occasion with their loved ones.
