Users of OTT platform Amazon Prime Video have got a big shock. Users who have been enjoying break-free entertainment till now may now have to pay more money to watch the show. Actually, Prime Video is bringing advertisements on the platform and to watch ad-free shows, you will have to take a premium subscription.
On Tuesday, May 13, Amazon Prime Video issued a statement informing about this. The statement reads- 'From June 17, 2025, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements. This will help us continue to invest in attractive content and grow that investment in the long term. Our goal is to keep significantly fewer ads than TV channels and other streaming services.

There will be no change in Prime membership
Prime Video also said that there will be no change in Prime membership on the OTT platform. In such a situation, Prime members will continue to get other benefits of shopping, savings and entertainment. Along with this, users will also be able to enjoy Amazon MX Player content on Prime Video. However, even after taking an ad-free subscription of Prime Video, ads will stream in MX Player content.
Emails being sent to Prime Video Indian users
Let us tell you that limited advertisements are already running on Prime Video in countries like America, Britain, Japan and Mexico. Now Amazon is going to implement this in India as well. Emails are being sent to Indian users regarding this.
When will the new subscription plan of Prime Video be implemented?
The new subscription rule of Prime Video will be implemented from June 17, 2025. For ads-free entertainment on Prime Video, Indian users will now have to pay an extra Rs 699 annually or an extra Rs 129 per month in addition to the subscription of Rs 1,499.
