In a heartwarming gesture, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced a new member to his family and shared a touching video on his X account. The new addition to PM Modi's residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi is a calf named 'Deepjyoti,' born to a cow at his residence. The calf, which has a unique symbol on its forehead, holds special significance in Indian culture, symbolizing purity and divinity.
Sharing the news, PM Modi quoted an ancient Sanskrit verse, 'Gaav: Sarvasukha Prada'—which translates to 'Cows provide all forms of happiness.' His words reflect the deep cultural and spiritual connection that cows hold in India, often revered as sacred beings. PM Modi named the calf 'Deepjyoti,' which means 'flame of light,' inspired by the unique mark on its forehead that resembles a symbol of illumination.
The video, shared on Saturday, captures PM Modi sitting with the calf at the temple in his residence, gently petting and playing with it. The scene radiates warmth as he lovingly caresses the mark on Deepjyoti’s forehead, signifying his bond with the animal. In another part of the video, PM Modi is seen walking with the calf through the lush gardens of his residence, further highlighting the care and affection he holds for animals, especially cows.

This isn’t the first time PM Modi has shared his connection with animals. Earlier this year, in January, on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, he posted a video of himself feeding Punganur cows at his residence. The Punganur breed, native to South India’s Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh, is among the world’s smallest humped cattle breeds. By showcasing his interaction with the breed, PM Modi sheds light on India’s rich cattle heritage and the role of cows in the rural economy.

In India, cows are revered as symbols of sustenance, compassion, and life-giving energy. The presence of cows in households and temples is believed to bring prosperity and peace. By welcoming Deepjyoti into his residence, PM Modi has further strengthened the message of reverence and care for animals, especially cows, a sentiment deeply embedded in Indian scriptures and traditions.
