New rules for India vs England semi-final revealed: The Indian cricket team captained by Rohit Sharma has reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024. With this, it is now decided that the Indian team will be seen facing England in its semi-final. At the same time, South Africa will face Afghanistan. Meanwhile, new rules of the ICC have also come out for the semi-finals. The rules were different in the matches played so far, which will change now.
The second semi-final will be played between India and England on the evening of 27 June
The Indian team will be seen playing its semi-final match in Guyana on 27 June. Where we will face the England team. This match will be played from 8 pm according to Indian time. The toss will take place about half an hour before this i.e. at 7:30 pm. The first semi-final will have been completed before this day. But the interesting thing is that there will be different rules for both the semi-finals. ICC has made a provision of reserve day for the first semi-final. That is, if it rains in the match, it will be played the next day. But no reserve day has been kept for the India vs England match.
ICC has kept 250 extra minutes
There is no reserve day in the match between India and England because the final will be played the very next day i.e. on the evening of 29th June. Meanwhile, ICC has informed that 250 minutes of extra time has been kept for both the semi-finals. This means that if rain disrupts the match, then one will have to wait for about four hours. According to the rules, if it becomes necessary to extend the match by 60 minutes in the first semi-final, then this will be done. If the match goes on the reserve day, then 190 minutes extra will be given on that day. There is a provision to give 250 minutes extra on the day when India will play the match in the second semi-final.
The semi-finals will be a mandatory 10 over match
If the match is interrupted due to rain, then it is necessary to have a match of at least 5 overs. That is, a match of less than 5 overs is considered cancelled, but if both the teams have played at least 5 overs, then its result is declared. But in the semi-finals, it has been increased. Until both the teams play at least 10 overs, the result will not be declared.
There is a threat of rain on the semi-final matches
There is a possibility of rain in both the matches of India vs England and Afghanistan vs South Africa. ICC will try its best to make sure that the match takes place and only then the winning team enters the final, but if the situation worsens then the team that is on top of its group will go to the final. In such a case, Team India will reach the final directly without playing any match. On the other hand, South Africa's team from the other group will be the contender to go to the final. It has also been said that if the final does not take place then both the teams reaching the final will be declared joint winners.
