Against England in the semi-final, Amarnath scored 46 and took two key wickets, earning Player of the Match honours.
In the final against West Indies, he scored 26 and claimed 3/12, helping India defend 183 and win their first World Cup.
Amarnath became the first player to win Player of the Match awards in both a World Cup semi-final and final of the same tournament.
