'The Hundred' women's competition is set to return for its 2026 season. The tournament will run from July 21 to August 16, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially announced the schedule for its matches.
In this tournament, eight women's teams will compete against one another across 34 matchdays. This includes three newly rebranded franchises—the Manchester Super Giants (formerly the Manchester Originals), MI London, and the Sunrisers Leeds.
The opening match of the tournament will be played at 'The Kia Oval' between MI London and the Sunrisers Leeds, featuring the defending women's champions. The teams have already announced their core squads through player retentions and new signings—including star players such as Nat Sciver-Brunt, Smriti Mandhana, and Alice Capsey. 'The Hundred' women's tournament has provided female cricketers with an excellent platform to showcase their talent in a unique format. The inaugural season of this tournament took place in 2021—at a time when the 'Women's Big Bash League' (WBBL) was the only franchise-based competition available to female cricketers. The 'Oval Invincibles' won the first season of the tournament, defeating the 'Southern Brave' by 48 runs in a one-sided final. In the following season, these two teams faced off once again in the final. Once again, the 'Invincibles' defeated the 'Southern Brave'—this time by five wickets.
After facing disappointment in the first two seasons, the 'Southern Brave' finally succeeded in winning this prestigious title in 2023. They defeated the 'Northern Superchargers' by 34 runs. The 2024 season of the tournament featured two new finalists. The 'London Spirit' claimed their maiden title by securing a four-wicket victory over the 'Welsh Fire'. In the tournament's most recent season, the 'Northern Superchargers' won the title for the first time. The 'Southern Brave' suffered their third defeat in five final appearances, losing by seven wickets. All five of these finals have been played at London's iconic 'Lord's Cricket Ground'. Nicola Carey was awarded the 'Player of the Match' honor, while Phoebe Litchfield was named the 'Player of the Tournament'.
