The T20 Blast will return in 2026, with matches taking place in England and Wales from May 22 to July 12. Organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the tournament will feature 18 county teams competing in a revised group-stage format followed by a knockout phase. Somerset will enter this season as defending champions after winning the title in the previous edition.
The T20 Blast is the domestic Twenty20 competition of England and Wales, in which county teams play short-format cricket. Introduced in 2003, it has become a regular fixture of the domestic calendar and is played annually during the English summer.
The format has been changed for the 2026 season, with teams divided into three regional groups instead of two major groups. Each county will play 12 group-stage matches, consisting of home and away matches against teams within their group, as well as two cross-group matches. The top teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage.
