The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet announced the schedule for the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 19th edition of the prestigious tournament is expected to begin on March 15, 2026, with the final on May 31, 2026. The season is expected to feature approximately 84 matches.
The Indian Premier League organisers announced on Saturday that the IPL 2026 auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16. This will be the third consecutive year that the IPL auction is being held outside India. The mega auction will be held in Dubai in 2024 and in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2025.

The date and venue of the upcoming auction were revealed on Saturday after the player retention window for IPL 2026 closed. In total, ten cricket teams retained 173 players, including 49 overseas cricketers. With a maximum squad size of 25 players, all franchises will compete to fill a maximum of 77 available spots during the upcoming auction.
