Alongside her twin sister, she first took to the game at a local club, and their talent was evident straight away. Both were soon put forward for Somerset trials, where they impressed enough to represent the county from under-11 level all the way through to senior women’s cricket. Lauren’s pace and natural athleticism caught the attention of pathway coaches, earning her a place on the Emerging Players Programme and, by 2018, a debut for Somerset Women.

Her development accelerated with the introduction of the regional domestic structure, as she signed a professional deal with Western Storm in 2020. Filer grew in confidence and experience, gaining exposure in The Hundred with Welsh Fire, London Spirit, and Manchester Originals.
