He was the highest wicket taker in the 2012-13 season of Ranji Trophy picking up 48 wickets in 8 matches, following which he was signed by the now-defunct Pune in the Indian T20 league for its sixth edition. For his impressive domestic show, Ishwar received a maiden-call up the national side, on the tour to New Zealand in 2014 and in the same year, Chennai signed him up.
