Harry Tom Tector is an Irish international cricketer who was born on 6 December 1999 in Dublin, Ireland. Tector is a right-handed middle-order batsman who can be handy with his right-arm off-breaks and has represented the senior national team in both forms of white-ball cricket. Currently, he plays for Leinster Lightning in Irish domestic cricket and his brothers, Jack and Tim Tector are also professional cricketers.
Harry Tector was a part of Ireland’s squad for the 2016 Under-19 World Cup before making his T20 debut for Munster Reds in the 2017 Inter-Provincial Trophy on 26 May 2017. Tector made his List A debut for Northern Knights in the 2018 Inter-Provincial Cup on 28 May 2018. He made his first-class debut for Northern Knights in the 2018 Inter-Provincial Championship on 29 May 2018. In March 2021, Tector was named as the new captain of Northern Knights, ahead of the 2021 season and then moved on to play for Leinster Lightning in 2022.
In December 2017, Tector was named as the captain of Ireland's squad for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. Following Ireland's matches in the tournament, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named Tector as the rising star of the squad. He was the leading wicket-taker for Ireland in the tournament, with 8 wickets. In November 2018, Tector was named the Male Academy Player of the Year at the annual Cricket Ireland Awards. On 10 July 2020, Tector was named in Ireland's 21-man squad to travel to England to start training behind closed doors for the ODI series against the England cricket team. On 28 July 2020, Cricket Ireland named Tector in their 14-man squad for the first ODI of the series. He made his ODI debut for Ireland, against England, on 30 July 2020. In September 2021, Tector was named in Ireland's provisional squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In July 2022, in the first match of the series against New Zealand, Tector scored his first century in ODI cricket.
