Will MS Dhoni do commentary in the T20 World Cup 2026?: Former Indian captain MS Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020. Since then, he has only been seen playing in the IPL. After his retirement, Dhoni has not pursued coaching or commentary. Now, Dhoni has finally revealed why he doesn't do commentary.

Dhoni believes that commentary is an art, and moreover, he doesn't remember statistics, which is why he stays away from it. He feels that one has to speak thoughtfully during commentary to avoid offending anyone. Dhoni cited several reasons for his decision to stay away from commentary.

MS Dhoni explained the reason:

Dhoni recently appeared in a conversation with sports broadcaster Jatin Sapru on YouTube. When asked why he doesn't do commentary, Dhoni said, "Commentary is very difficult. I think there's a very fine line between talking about the game and criticizing the players. There will be times when you won't even realize that what you're doing might be slightly wrong."

Dhoni further added, 'You always want to talk about the game. If you feel something is wrong, you speak about it openly. However, how you say it is also an art. You have to criticize in a way that nobody feels targeted. If the team is losing, you have to explain the reasons behind it in a way that doesn't hurt anyone's feelings.'

Speaking about commentary, Dhoni said:

'Commentary is an art. Besides, if you want to do commentary, you need to have a good understanding of statistics. I'm not good with statistics. There are many people who have excellent knowledge of statistics, but if you ask me about my own statistics, my answer won't be much more than a 'yes'. There are some people who know the statistics not only of the Indian team or Indian players, but of almost all the players in the world of cricket.'
