Salman Ali Agha received and threw away the runner-up check: The Asia Cup 2025 proved to be a disappointing tournament for the Pakistan cricket team. Pakistan suffered three defeats throughout the tournament, all three of which came against India. This performance once again demonstrated Pakistan's dominance in Asia.
The defeat against India in the Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium clearly disappointed captain Salman Ali Agha. His frustration was compounded by the fact that all three of Pakistan's losses in the tournament were against India.
An incident after the final clearly exposed his disappointment. When presented with the runner-up check of USD 75,000 from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi, Agha threw the check on the ground instead of accepting it and then proceeded to speak to the broadcaster. A video of this incident quickly went viral on social media.
Salman Ali Agha later expressed disappointment with the batting department's performance. He stated that the batsmen did not perform as expected at the most crucial time for the team. However, he praised the bowlers for their hard work and urged them to maintain a positive outlook for the team's future.
