The ICC has finalized the venues for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka next year. These venues include the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata.
The World Cup will be held in February and March next year. According to a Cricbuzz report, the ICC has selected eight venues for the event. These include Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata from India, and two stadiums in Colombo and one in Kandy from Sri Lanka.
No venue has been selected for the final yet. It will depend on whether Pakistan reaches the final. However, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the front-runner to host the final. Regarding the semi-final matches, if Sri Lanka and Pakistan reach the semi-finals, they will be played in Sri Lanka. If neither team reaches the semi-finals, both matches will be played in India. If Pakistan reaches the final, the title match will be played in Colombo.
The Indian and Pakistani teams do not tour each other's countries. The situation has worsened since the Pahalgam attack in April this year. This is why Pakistan played all its matches in Sri Lanka in the recent Women's ODI World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. A similar scenario may be seen in next year's T20 World Cup.
