India record in Boxing Day Tests: India have won the last two Boxing Day Tests played at the iconic Melbourne Stadium and Rohit Sharma's side would be looking to register a hattrick of wins this time around.
The fourth Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia is going to start from Thursday (26 December). This Boxing Day Test match between the two teams will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. India have won the last two Boxing Day Tests played at the Melbourne Stadium and Rohit Sharma's team would like to score a hat-trick of wins this time.
India drew the third Test match against Australia in Brisbane last week. After the first three Tests, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series between India and Australia is currently tied at 1-1 and in such a situation, now both the teams would like to take a crucial 2-1 lead in the series by winning the fourth match.
India will once again have high expectations from Jasprit Bumrah, who has dismissed 21 batsmen so far in the series. Bumrah, who is ranked number-1 in the ICC Test bowlers' rankings, has a very good record in Tests at the MCG. Bumrah has taken 15 wickets in the two red-ball matches played so far at Australia's largest cricket stadium.
India has played 18 Boxing Day Test matches in its cricket history so far, out of which it has won only four matches and lost 11. Also, 3 Test matches have been drawn. India's last defeat in the Boxing Day Test was by an innings and 32 runs against South Africa in Centurion in 2023.
