Tour continues amid player safety concerns: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi met the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Islamabad and assured the team of tight security.
On Tuesday (November 11, 2025), a suicide attack outside an Islamabad court killed 12 people, hours before Sri Lanka's first ODI against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Following this incident, several players expressed their desire to return home.
In a meeting held on Wednesday (November 12, 2025), the cricket boards and security officials of both countries discussed the safety of the players. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) issued a statement stating that the players' concerns are being addressed in collaboration with the PCB and relevant authorities.
The SLC clarified that if any player or staff member returns home, their decision will be formally reviewed. Furthermore, replacement players will be sent to ensure the tour continues smoothly.
PCB Chairman Naqvi wrote on X, "The spirit of sportsmanship and solidarity is shining through." He said the remaining two ODIs will now be played in Rawalpindi on Friday (November 14, 2025) and Sunday (November 16, 2025).
Following the ODI series, Zimbabwe will also participate in a T20 tri-nation series with Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
