An unofficial Test match is being played between India A and South Africa A at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. After batting on the third day of the match, Pant was hit three times by Tshepo Moreki's bowling. The South African bowler also struck Pant's helmet. Pant was struck three times on his body, forcing him to retire hurt. Pant wanted to bat during the match, but coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar and the physio advised him to retire.
