The upcoming season of the IPL (IPL 2026) is set to commence on March 28. All teams have already begun their preparations for the 19th edition of the tournament. The Lucknow Super Giants are also deep into their preparations, with their captain, Rishabh Pant, putting in rigorous work in the nets. LSG shared a video from a practice session in which Pant is seen handing his bat to his teammate, Ayush Badoni.
The Lucknow Super Giants have been competing in the IPL since 2022; while the team reached the playoffs in its first two seasons, it was eliminated at the league stage in the subsequent two editions. Last year, the team acquired Rishabh Pant for a record sum of ₹27 crore, although his performance did not quite live up to expectations. Now, Pant is working extremely hard in preparation for the upcoming season.
Rishabh Pant gave his bat to Ayush Badoni
The Lucknow Super Giants shared a video on their official social media page showing Ayush Badoni heading to practice. He is carrying a bat belonging to Rishabh Pant—a bat that the captain himself had gifted to him. The video shows Pant taking the bat out of his kit bag and handing it to Badoni, remarking that it is an excellent bat and instructing him not to break it. Pant simply added, "Just put some tape on it." Notably, Badoni and Pant also play for the same team (Delhi) in domestic cricket.
Ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League season, the Lucknow Super Giants have revamped their logo and also altered their jersey colors (which now feature a combination of red and blue). The franchise has incorporated an elephant motif into its logo. The previous season was not particularly memorable for Lucknow; the team managed to win only 6 of its 14 matches.
The 2026 IPL season is scheduled to commence on March 28. The opening match will be played in Bengaluru between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Lucknow Super Giants' first match is scheduled for April 1 against the Delhi Capitals. Prior to joining Lucknow, Pant served as the captain of the Delhi franchise. This match will be played at LSG's home ground, the Ekana Stadium.
LSG unveils a new Jersey
The Lucknow Super Giants have unveiled their new official jersey and colors. This marks a significant stride in their journey—one grounded in belief and grand aspirations. Over the course of four seasons, LSG has evolved from a fledgling squad into a formidable and respected team. This success is a testament to the team's stellar performance, discipline, and the unwavering support of fans who have embraced this team as their own. This jersey embodies that very progress and reflects the high standards the team now upholds. The design of this new jersey draws inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh—a region where color, art, and tradition are an integral part of daily life.
This new kit symbolizes the resilience to stand firm even in the face of adversity, the spirit of continuous growth, and the confidence derived from building a team with integrity. It stands as a symbol of the team's lofty ambitions, inextricably linked to its sense of responsibility toward the city it proudly represents.
