Shimron Hetmyer's innings broke a record that had stood for the past 16 years. Previously, the record for the fastest half-century for West Indies in a T20 World Cup belonged to the legendary Chris Gayle. Gayle had scored his fifty in 23 balls against Australia in the 2009 World Cup. Hetmyer has now claimed this record by achieving the feat in one ball less.
