MS Dhoni
Former Indian captain MS Dhoni's wicketkeeping skills are still admired across the globe. It is often said that no one is faster than Dhoni behind the stumps. Dhoni announced his retirement on August 15, 2020. While young wicketkeepers of today consider him their role model, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif holds the view that Dhoni was not a superior wicketkeeper. He has been critical of Mahi's wicketkeeping abilities.

Latif, who kept wickets for Pakistan for a long time, stated that Dhoni dropped approximately 21 percent of catches—a significant figure. Rashid believes that the opportunities missed by Dhoni should also be discussed. Looking at the former Indian captain's record, he took 256 catches and effected 38 stumpings in Test matches. In ODIs, he recorded 321 catches and 123 stumpings. Meanwhile, in T20s, Dhoni took 57 catches and completed 34 stumpings.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rashid Latif said, "Dhoni was a batsman-wicketkeeper. He has a huge stature, but if I look at the statistics, his catch-drop rate is 21 percent. That is a significant number. Everyone talks about the catches he took, but no one speaks about the ones he dropped—or how many stumpings he missed, how many byes he conceded, and how many run-out opportunities he squandered." "You see the full picture only after putting everything together."
Dhoni is regarded as one of the greatest wicketkeepers of all time. He still plays for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and also serves as the team's captain. When asked who he considers the best wicketkeeper, Latif named South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock. However, he noted that de Kock lacks finishing abilities. Latif described de Kock as the best wicketkeeper of the last 15 years.
