The Maharashtra government honored World Cup-winning vice-captains Smriti Mandhana, Radha Yadav, and Jemimah Rodriguez, who played key roles in India's World Cup victory. The event was held in Mumbai, where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented prize money checks to the three players.
In addition to the honors, the Chief Minister also presented checks worth ₹2.5 crore to the three players. It's worth noting that all three players are from the city of Mumbai. Almost every state honored its players and announced prize money for them.
Along with these three players from the World Cup-winning team, the Maharashtra government also honored head coach Amol Majumdar and presented him with a check for ₹25 lakh. Amol, 50, is also from Mumbai.
Jemimah played a historic century of 127 not out against Australia in the World Cup semi-final. Chasing a target of 339, India won the match by 5 wickets. This innings will be remembered for years. Jemimah scored 292 runs in 7 innings in the World Cup.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana played a crucial innings of 45 runs in the World Cup final. She also scored two half-centuries and a century in the tournament. She scored 109 runs against New Zealand, while against England and Australia she scored 88 and 80 runs respectively. Mandhana scored 434 runs in 9 matches in the tournament.
Radha Yadav is one of the best fielders in women's cricket, although her last match was in the league stage of the World Cup. Against Bangladesh, she took 3 wickets for 30 runs. He got 1 wicket in the semi-final and no wicket in the final.
