KKR has appointed Tim Southee as its preferred coach for 2026. Southee, who will retire from international cricket in early 2025, has served as a consultant with the England Test team.

CEO Venky Mysore said: We are delighted to welcome Tim Southee to the KKR family, this time as a coach. "Tim's vast experience and technical expertise will play a key role in shaping our bowling unit. His leadership skills and calm demeanor make him an ideal mentor for our young bowlers."

The 36-year-old Southee represented KKR in 2021, 2022, and 2023. During his playing career, across all formats, Southee has taken over 700 international wickets and played over 100 Test matches. He played a key role in New Zealand's victories in the 2019 ODI World Cup final and the 2021 World Test Championship.

KKR management has expressed confidence that Southee's presence will add a new dimension to the team's bowling, both fast and spin. The IPL 2026 season brings several changes for KKR. As the tournament approaches, KKR is working to strengthen its coaching team, and Southee's entry is considered an important part of this process.
