A major match-fixing scandal has surfaced in West Indies cricket. This match-fixing case has garnered significant headlines following the T20 World Cup. Amidst serious allegations of corruption during the Bim10 League 2023/24 held in Barbados, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended three individuals—including West Indies player Jevon Searles. The ICC has once again thwarted an attempt to tarnish the integrity of a global sport like cricket.

The ICC has leveled match-fixing charges against West Indies player Jevon Searles, team official Travon Griffith, and Titans team owner Chittaranjan Rathod. All three are accused of attempting to improperly influence the results and events of matches during the Bim10 tournament. Furthermore, they face charges of inciting other players to engage in corruption and failing to cooperate with the investigation being conducted by anti-corruption officials.

ICC Strict Rules Apply to Sears and Griffith

Trevon Griffith, an official of the Titans team participating in the Bim10 tournament held in Barbados, has been charged with violating both the CWI Code and the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Griffith is alleged to have attempted to conceal material information related to an investigation, or to have tampered with evidence in an effort to suppress proof of corruption. Both Jevon Searles and Griffith are also charged with failing to disclose match-fixing offers or invitations that were made to them.

Adopting a strict stance, the ICC has suspended Sears, Griffith, and Rathore from all cricket-related activities with immediate effect. The trio has been granted a period of 14 days—commencing on March 11, 2026—within which they must submit their responses to these grave allegations. This action forms part of a comprehensive investigation, in which the name of US player Aaron Jones had also surfaced in January.
