The Jammu and Kashmir team has made history in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. Their team has qualified for the Ranji Trophy semi-finals for the first time ever. Jammu and Kashmir secured their place in the semi-finals by defeating Madhya Pradesh by 56 runs in the quarter-final match on February 9th. In the match played in Indore, Jammu and Kashmir set a target of 291 runs for Madhya Pradesh. In reply, the Madhya Pradesh team was all out for 234 runs.
Aqib Nabi takes 12 wickets – Delhi Capitals' fast bowler Aqib Nabi was the hero of Jammu and Kashmir's historic victory. Nabi took a total of 12 wickets in both innings of the match. He was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. In the first innings, he bowled brilliantly, taking seven wickets for 40 runs, while in the second innings, he took five wickets for 70 runs. Thus, he claimed a total of 12 wickets across both innings.
Madhya Pradesh managed only 152 runs in the first innings –
In the match, Jammu and Kashmir batted first and scored 194 runs in their first innings. In reply, thanks to Nabi's incisive bowling, the MP team was all out for just 152 runs in their first innings. Jammu and Kashmir gained a 42-run lead in the first innings. They then scored 248 runs in their second innings, setting Madhya Pradesh a target of 291 runs. This target was not considered too difficult for the MP team, which included players like Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal.
