Sanju Samson will play alongside MS Dhoni for the Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). The BCCI officially announced this, following which Sanju Samson posted two posts: one about leaving Rajasthan Royals and the other about joining Chennai Super Kings.
Sanju Samson joined Chennai Super Kings from Rajasthan Royals via a trade deal before the auction. His salary at CSK is the same ₹18 crore (approximately $1.8 billion), the same as his salary at Rajasthan Royals in the previous edition. Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, who were also part of CSK, were traded to Rajasthan Royals.
Sanju Samson shared a post on social media showing him relaxing on the beach. He is wearing a yellow wristband (also the CSK color). In the caption, he wrote, Vanakkam and shared a yellow heart. It's worth noting that Vanakkam is a Tamil word that means "Namaste" in Hindi.
Earlier, he shared a post with Rajasthan Royals and wrote, "We've been here for a short time. Gave this franchise our all, enjoyed some great cricket, made some lifelong relationships, treated everyone at the franchise like family. And when the time comes, I'm moving on. I'll always be grateful for everything."
Sanju Samson began his IPL career with the Rajasthan Royals, where he played from 2013 to 2015. In 2016 and 2017, Samson played for the Delhi Capitals, returning to Rajasthan in 2018. He has played 177 IPL matches, scoring 4,704 runs. Samson has three centuries and 26 half-centuries in the IPL.
